Rakeback Tips: Wining Rake Races
Rake races can be seen as a bit of extra fun but many players take them seriously so here are a few tips to winning a rake race.
- Multi-Tabling ‚ If you can handle playing several tables at once this is a great way to generate maximum rake
- Forget being a high roller – Rake on the smaller buy-in tables with still be substantial enough to win the rake race and your bankroll will be left intact.
- Limit/level selection – Choose a limit based on skill level and your rakeback (and race) goals. Poker sites differ in the way they collect rake. For example if the site uses a $20 pot as the minimum rake threshold for $1/2, $2/4 and $3/6 tables. A player at $3/6 will establish a significant lead in a rake race over a player at $1/2 playing a similar number of hands.
- Table Selection – Tight tables should be avoided. Loose players play more pots with marginal hands. The more pots there are per hour the more rake is generated.
- Dominate the Rake Race Leaderboard – If you can present a real challenge early on, you will break many of your competitors, who will feel that they can’t catch up.
- Don’t Burn-Out – It is likely that your hourly profit will dip playing more tables than usual while competing in a rake-race. A Rake Race win should more than compensate you – especially in conjunction with Rakeback.
