Ultimate Bet player donates $200,000 to Baseball Squad

eric baldwinEric “basebaldy” Baldwin (not related to Stephen Baldwin of Celebrity Big Brother) donated a very generous $200,000 to the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater baseball squad. The Ultimate Bet player was the 2009 CardPlayer Player of the Year after his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet win and estimated $1.5 million in tournament earnings during 2009.

In an interview with fan site Pocketfives.com Baldwin who is sponsored by Ultimate bet poker said

“I can guarantee I would not have as much success in my poker career if it weren’t for lessons learned from the Warhawk Baseball program.”

Baldwin also noted that he’s made it a point to give back to a school that crowned him team captain in 2006. He explained,

“I always wanted to give back to the program. The opportunity to purchase lights for the field so they can host postseason play was a perfect fit.”

The team will use its newly found funds to light up Prucha Field, which will in turn host the Midwest Regionals of the NCAA Division III baseball playoffs. Prucha Field last hosted the Division III playoffs back in 2005. Five years later, it will do so under a brand new bank of lights. Baldwin was a team captain in 2006, his final year at the school.
