It is au revoir Monte Carlo and Ola! Madrid as the PokerStars EPT Grand Final shifts from Monaco to Spain after six years at the wonderful Monte Carlo Casino. Many players will be sad to leave the European Mecca of gambling in this seventh year of the EPT but the Casino Gran Madrid will no doubt carve its own place in the players’ hearts. PokerStars rakeback is still not possible but PokerStars players will be able to qualify for the Grand Final through satellites starting on February 28th.
John Duthie who is the EPT CEO and in fact the founder of the European Poker Tour commented in a press release about the change:
“We wanted somewhere new, dynamic, and inspiring and knew that Madrid would tick all the boxes for the travelling poker player, regardless of age or desires. The same familiar team will be running the event and the schedule will, I am sure, provide something for everyone. All the usual qualifying satellites will be held on PokerStars, giving all players of all nationalities the opportunity to join us in launching from our new home. Hasta la vista!”
This is the seventh season of the PokerStars EPT and there are still four events left to play including the Grand Final in Madrid.
