Jim Anderson Wins WSOPC Regional Championships

WSOPC Regional Championship Winner Jim Anderson

The World Series of Poker Circuit Regional Championship at the Horseshoe Hammond has been won by Jim Anderson after a tough heads-up battle with the chip leader at the start of the day Gabe Patgorski. Anderson secured his largest career win when he was dealt bullets that Gabe Patgorski couldn’t dodge with his AJ.

Heading into the final table a lot was expected of David Sands, the Doyles Room player, who reached his first final table at the WSOP this year and has 20 career titles to his name. He is one of the Brunson 10 and is a name to be shot at on the site in the Bounty tournaments and in all MTTS as well. Doyle’s Room is part of the Cake Poker network and qualifies for the same 33% Cake Poker Rakeback we offer across all Cake network sites.

Sands was unable to get his game going on the Final Table and departed in 5th place leaving Curt Kohlberg, Bernard Lee, Gabe Patgorski and the lesser known Jim Anderson to fight for the Regional Championship title.

It was Kohlberg who knocked out Sands with his own bullets but he didn’t last long after the diner break and was eliminated by Kim Anderson after a pre-flop raising war led to Anderson’s JJ holding up against A10.

Shortly after Jim Anderson won the most important pot of the day when he doubled through Patgorski with JJ agains A6 and at this point Anderson held 5m of the 7m chips. Bernard Lee was out in third in a straight race against fellow short stack Patgorski. Gabe hit a King to edge ahead with his big slick and knock out Lee.

Heads up took almost exactly an hour with Patgorski closing the more than 2:1 chip advantage to more like a 3:2 but eventually he ran out of cards and luck and steamrollered his AJ straight into Anderson’s AA which held up to secure the win for the Wooster, Ohio boy who takes home $525,449.
