Rakeback poker – Dan Kelly New Pro at Doyle’s Room Poker after record win?

Brunson 10 logoDan “djk123” Kelly won  his first World Series of Poker bracelets in the $25k six handed no-limit hold’em event collecting $1,315,518 and perhaps more importantly also taking a firm lead at the top of the Doyle’s Room Poker Brunson 10 leaderboard. This leaderboard competition will reward the player with the most successful WSOP with a place on the Brunson 10 at Doyle’s Room.

Dan Kelly, Faraz Jaka, David Sands and Michael Martin are all competing for a place on the Brunson 10 team at Doyle’s Room which will see them become part of the Brunson stable and gain sponsorship from Doyle’s Room.

Before this huge win Kelly had been trailing behind leader Sands and second placed Jaka but this huge win has catapulted him into the lead and only a very impressive showing in the Main Event from one of the other three could strip him of his place in the Brunson 10. It is most likely that if one of the other three were go on an win the Main Event they would both gain a spot on the team.

Kelly’s win had some fortune with it but no win at the World Series of Poker can be attributed to skill alone. As play went to the final table Kelly was an overwhelming chip leader against Shawn Buchanan, Frank Kassela, Jason Somerville, Mikael Thuritz and Eugene Katchalov a virtual who’s who of the internet poker world. Kassela was looking for his third bracelet of the series whilst Buchanan cashed for an astonishing eighth time of the Series.

Kelly started the table by eliminating Thuritz and Katchalov before treading water for a while before Buchanan eliminated both Jason Somerville in fourth place and Frank Kassela in third place. His knock out blow to Kassela was particularly harsh after pushing all in with an open ended straight draw against Kassela’s two pair. The straight came and left a disappointed Kassela to rue his opponent’s mystifying decision to move all in.

Heads up didn’t last long and after a series of small pots the money all went in with Kelly holding A10 and Buchanan pocket jacks. An ace on the river secured the title, the prize money and the bracelet and potentially a Brunson 10 place for Dan Kelly and a rakeback poker sponsorship deal at Doyle’s Room Poker.
