Attention turns to the UK for Poker in September

EPO 2010Now that the World Series of Poker is over in Las Vegas until November we are left o look elsewhere for our next string of big tournaments and the UK and London in particular is where all the big names will be heading. The World Series of Poker Europe, the WPT London Poker Classic and the English Poker Open will all play out this September.

Whilst the WSOPE and the WPT may be well known the English Poker Open is quickly gain recognition as a tournament for champions. Last year the UK’s best poker players including Dave Ulliott, Marty Smyth, Neil Channing, Praz Bansi, James Akenhead, Liv Boeree, Julian Threw and Liam Flood were all present along with international stars such as Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth and Annette Obrestad.

The UK poker scene has had a breakthrough year with five WSOP bracelets returning back to England and some deep runs in the Main Event cut short before the November Nine was decided. The GUKPT has also seen an increase in participants this year as online poker players seek practise in live tournaments to prepare for the big events such as the English Poker Open.

Whilst the US remains uncertain over the future of online poker its rise in the UK and Europe continues unabated. As more European poker players gain experience in playing live tournaments we are continuing to see some impressive results in the US highlighted by the performance in the WSOP. An Italian Filippo Candio has made it to the November Nine to ensure a European presence at the final table for another year following James Akenhead’s success in 2009.

Luckily for our players we have loads of English Poker Open packages to give away at all the op poker sites including Full Tilt Poker, UB and Absolute Poker, Cake Poker and many, many more. For full details please see English Poker Open
