Annie Duke Back From the Dark to Win NBC Head’s Up Championship

Annie Duke survived some near misses to win the 2010 NBC Heads Up Poker Championship on Sunday at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas.

Duke beat a veritable who’s who of poker to take the title: 2008 runner up Andy Bloch was first to be dispatched, 2009 WSOP Main Event runner-up Darvin Moon was next to go before Duke overcame 2007 champ Paul Wasicka with the help of a runner runner straight. In the final Eric Seidel was unable to match Duke and she took home $500,000.

Duke was clearly over the moon with the result:

“”I’m so excited to win such a prestigious event and join the likes of Huck Seed, Chris Ferguson and Phil Hellmuth as Heads-Up Champion.”

Having left the game for almost a year to film “The Celebrity Apprentice” and spend more time with her four children this event has certainly proved that she still has what it takes to compete at the highest level.

Full Tilt have announce the full details of the miniFTOPS set to launch March 10^th online and only at Full Tilt. Highlights of the event include a $600k guaranteed tournament and the Main Event $800k guaranteed tournament.

PokerStars Launches Luxury Ladies Poker Club With a Shot at Monte Carlo

Several lucky ladies will be whisked away to Monte Carlo to compete in the 1,100 Ladies Championship as the European Poker Tour comes to town for the Grand Final. Not only will the winners receive this entry they will also be holed up at the truly smashing Columbus Monaco, be enrolled in PokerStars Pro Vanessa Rousso’s Ladies Boot Camp and some fantastic goodies just in case all of that wasn’t enough.

There will be qualifying tournaments including freerolls so that anybody can have a shot – well any lady. Freezeout and rebuy tournaments will both be in effect to give everyone’s style of poker a chance. There will also be a last chance 215 buy in for those who don’t make it through the qualifiers or who are already living like a high stakes poker queen.

For the gents out there PokerStars has had this to say:

Brunson Halfway There With His Magic 10

Doyle Brunson has reached the halfway mark in his appointment of the Brunson 10 by adding Alex Kamberis to the team of next generation superstars. Twenty three year old Kamberis has accumulated over $4 million in his short career and has already held a stint as a bounty player at Doyle’s Room. Kamberis reached the top of CardPlayer’s Online Poker Player of the Year rankings in 2008 by collecting over $1.5 million and followed that up by bringing home a cool half million in 2009.

Doyle Brunson is clearly delighted to have the youngster on board:

““I’m really excited that Alex has decided to come on board. He’s a real class act, just a real nice kid, and he’s the type of player that makes us all look forward to the next generation of poker players.”

Amit had four World Series of Poker cashes in 2009 to put him alongside Doyle Brunson in the history books.

Career Earnings: $1.6 million

Chris discovered the joys of online poker whilst at university and steadily built the monstrous bankroll he is now able to play with. Unfortunately for Chris his dad has the bragging rights in his family after scooping the biggest cash of the pair after Chris had paid for his buy-in!

Dani Stern

Age: 22

Home Town: New York

Career Earnings: $800,000

Dani has a story common to many online poker players grinding up through the limits but one particular highlight for the young New Yorker must be his 4^th place finish at the $40k NL event in the 2009 World Series of Poker. Dani took home $548k in what many believe to be one of the toughest live tournaments in history.
